The Trinity

The Trinity – what is it and how did it come about?

Since the Bible doesn’t mention the word Trinity let’s start by going to our dictionary:-

The dictionary’s definition of the Trinity:-

  1. “The unity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as three persons in one Godhead…”
  2. “A group of closely related persons or things.”

There has been a lot of discussion and contention within church regarding the Trinity.

Belief in the existence of the Trinity is taken by faith. No ‘person’ can be seen. The visible evidences of the Trinity are life itself. No human can recreate life from nothing. To believe in the Trinity is to put faith in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit and to believe in their government. Visible evidences include life, invisible evidences involve ‘impressions’. We may feel impressed to visit someone or pray for someone. There are plenty of evidences of God’s love and in our daily lives we can feel God working in us and with us.

In the beginning before time itself, there was only a deep void. By reasons and methods that for now we take by faith God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit came into existence. They formed their government and established and sealed their covenant. Their existence is the foundation of life itself.

The world as we know it wouldn’t exist without the presence of the Trinity.

All governments have a ‘pecking’ order, first the big boss, then the second in command, third in command and so on. With earthly governments the top boss has the final say. The second and third in command may have advice but the final decision is given by the first in command regardless.

The Trinity work on a similar principle but with one major difference – they work together. They all put their ideas on the table and discuss all three member’s point of view. The ultimate decision is a agreement by the entire Trinity not just one person’s point of view.

God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit all work together. God the Son (Jesus) came to this world to save us from sin, the Holy Spirit abides in us to guide and comfort and God the Father reigns above. Together they work as one imparting life.

The Trinity is the core of our foundation, its covenant establishes its constitution. They cannot and will not be divided, it is in their law to bind themselves to one another and protect the government they have established.

God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit together form the Trinity. To them belongs our deepest gratitude, our praise, our love and our life.
