Friends, if you’re sitting on the fence then this document is for you. In Matthew 11:28 Jesus says, “come unto Me, all ye who are heavy laden and I will give you rest”. Jesus offers us peace and rest from our daily toil. He offers us love, compassion and tenderness. He imparts strength when required and His guardian angels are ever in attendance, protecting and guiding. I would like to point out the two very vast differences in the character of the two rulers we have to choose between. There can no longer be any ‘sitting on the fence’, there is no no-man’s land, everyone must now choose their leader. Jesus and heaven or Satan and hell. If Jesus isn’t chosen, well friend you have joined Satan’s ranks by default. To not be with Jesus, is to be against Jesus.
At the moment both teams are pressing for your vote. Jesus with arms open wide is pleading for you to ‘come unto Him’. He offers salvation and a blessed life of peace and happiness in a perfect world. Satan, on the other hand uses deceit, and he is trying to get you to join his army rank and fight against God for his (Satan’s) own selfish purpose. And Satan only offers empty promises – there is no salvation, no hope and no life.
Friends let’s take a quick trip down memory lane. Let’s look at both sides. The past has more than enough evidence to be able to accurately paint a portrait of both governments, a picture of what each government stands for and what to expect under each rule. Hopefully this will help you make a decision of who’s team you want to bat for, and I pray you choose Jesus’ team and join me as we head for the promised land.
Let’s start with the King – Jesus:-
Who is Jesus? According to man, the definition of Jesus in the dictionary states:-
“The central figure of the christian religion ….”
According to the Bible the angelic choir heralding the birth of Jesus said in:-
Luke 2:11 “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”
The angels here acknowledge Jesus to be the Saviour and Christ the Lord.
John 20:31 “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
Here Jesus is acknowledged as Christ, the Son of God.
John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”
Here Jesus is portrayed as a shepherd.
The dictionary definition of a shepherd is:-
“Give guidance to (someone), especially on spiritual matters.”
Jesus is our shepherd guiding and leading us and as the ‘Good Shepherd’ never leaves His sheep, so Jesus will never leave us.
Both definitions seem to agree that Jesus is the leader of the christians, so who are the ‘christians’ and what is the foundation of God’s government?
Reference to ‘Christians’ can be found in:-
Acts 11:26 “And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.”
Here the word ‘Christian’ is introduced and it announces that followers of Christ are Christians. The term ‘Christians’ today covers a variety of denominations, but it basically means a follower of Christ.
Let’s have a quick look at the basis of God’s government:-
Psalm 89:14 “Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.”
Psalm 97:2 “…righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.”
According to the dictionary the term ‘habitation’ means, “A house or home.” Heaven is Jesus’ home.
Having established who Jesus is, what defines a christian and the basis for the government of God, let’s put it all together to establish a picture of the Kingdom of God.
Jesus is the rightful ruler, He created the world. There are a few Bible verses that prove Jesus created the world. Let’s start with the very first book in the Bible, the very first chapter and the very first verse:-
Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
Friends it doesn’t get much plainer than that.
Psalm 146:6 “Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is…”
John 1:1,3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…All things were made by Him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”
Jesus established His law, His government. In the beginning before any world was created, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit established their kingdom, their government, their rule. This was passed on to Adam and then down the line, but when Israel entered Egypt they lost to a large degree the precepts of God’s law. Once out of Egypt Jesus returned to them the main precepts, the ten commandments. Other laws were established that were significant to the Israelites (eg, the sacrificial system). Moving down the line Jesus worked with the disciples passing on the principles of heaven’s government, but initially these laws were founded before the world began.
Psalm 119:152 “Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever.”
And He sent His Holy Spirit to guide, lead and council.
John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever.”
The dictionary states that a ‘comforter’ is, “A person or thing that provides consolation”, “he is friend, comforter, and guardian”
John 14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
Jesus’ law is a foundation of love, kindness, compassion, mercy and above all forgiveness.
Exodus 34:6,7 “And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, long suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty,…”
In this world of sin, all have sinned, but Jesus offers forgiveness and salvation in His blood from the cross. His blood paved the way for our salvation, what a God of love. He loved us so much He died in our stead. His nail scarred hands are ever open wide offering love, compassion, kindness and salvation.
God’s government is founded for happiness, peace and wellbeing for its citizens. Peace and happiness is paramount, heaven is promised and He has even made each and every one of us a mansion. We may be, right now, abiding on a usurped planet, we may be living in the devil’s playground, but all earthly kingdoms do fall and Satan’s is no exception. Jesus will come, Satan’s reign will end and Jesus will lead His people to their heavenly home. Though stuck in this for a little while longer Jesus has kept His promise of love and protection, His guardian angels have been with us from the beginning of time and are still with us today. Friend, take a good look at the kingdom of God, open your Bibles and read for yourself the precious gems it contains. Jesus’ reign is for the benefit of His subjects, their happiness is paramount to Him. Now that, friends, is a God of love and a kingdom I want to be a subject of.
But fair, is fair, let’s look at the other side. The kingdom of darkness, death and despair.
Satan’s government:-
Originally he was first in command in heaven, but he rebelled against the government of God and was dispelled from heaven.
Ezekiel 28:14,15 “Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.”
Isaiah 14:12-15 “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.”
In his deception he (Satan) managed to take a third of the heavenly host with him.
Revelation 12:7-9 “And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”
So we see here Satan’s first move was deception. His (Satan’s) second move was to fight, to fight against Jesus, the government Jesus stood for, the government of heaven.
Satan, starting with Adam and Eve, then went on to destroy everything heaven stood for. Man was his especial target and he stopped at nothing to destroy the human race. So well did he succeed that only a few, short generations later, God was forced to wipe most of the human race out.
Genesis 6:5-8 “And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.”
Genesis 9:8,9 “And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying, And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;”
At the cross, Satan showed his true nature when he murdered the Son of God. The evil people who hung Jesus on the cross were merely pawns in the devil’s hands. It is very important which master you choose, behind every person who has chosen Satan is a demon, screaming obscenities. Friend, it is a fearful thing to be under Satan’s control.
Fast forward to today, you only have to look around you to see the results of Satan’s reign. Satan has driven people over the edge of sanity, he uses his chosen poisons (drugs, alcohol etc) to ruin everyone he can tempt to use it. Human life has no value to him, he kills and maims all possible and he laughs at his victory and scoffs at his victims.
While Jesus has spent His time preparing a beautiful home for us, Satan has spent his time destroying everything Jesus has created.
Friend, you have to choose whose side you want to join. The creator or the destroyer.
